Student Non-Discrimination Policy and Complaint Procedure

A. Non-Discrimination Policy

The Rockdale County Board of Education (“Board”) desires that all students receive the benefit of an adequate education. With this view in mind, the Board prohibits unlawful discrimination against students because of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age, or disability, or other protected group status or activity (e.g. opposition to prohibited discrimination or participation in the statutory complaint process) in its programs and activities or employment in its programs or activities. In keeping with this commitment, the Board will not tolerate harassment, discrimination, or other unlawful treatment of its students. As set forth herein, the Board designates the following employee of Rockdale County Public Schools (“District”) to handle inquiries regarding the District’s non-discrimination policies:

Title I Parent Involvement Set Aside Funds

Pine Street Elementary School needs your help in planning programs and services that will serve you and your children. All parents of children receiving Title I services have the opportunity to provide input into how the required 1% set aside parent involvement funds will be budgeted. Please contact us with your ideas or suggestions.

Title I Parent's Right to Know

Dear Parents,

In compliance with the requirements of the Every Students Succeeds Act, Pine Street Elementary School would like to inform you that you may request information about the professional qualifications of your student’s teacher(s) and/ or paraprofessional(s). The following information may be requested:

  • Whether the student’s teacher—
  • has met State qualification and licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction;
  • is teaching under emergency or other provisional status through which State qualification or licensing criteria have been waived; and
  • is teaching in the field of discipline of the certification of the teacher.
  • Whether the child is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualifications.

  • If you wish to request information concerning your child’s teacher’s and/or paraprofessional’s qualifications, please contact the Stetina Haines-Williams at 770-483-8713.

    Estimados padres:

    Conforme a los requisitos de la Ley para que todos los alumnos tengan éxito, a la Pine Street Elementary School le gustaría comunicarle que puede solicitar información sobre las calificaciones profesionales del (de los) maestro(s) y/o paraprofesional(es) de su hijo/a. Puede solicitarse la siguiente información:

  • Si el maestro del alumno:
  •  

ha cumplido con la calificación y los requisitos para la licencia del Estado para los niveles del grado y las asignaturas en las que el maestro enseña;

 

  • Si son paraprofesionales los que le brindan servicios al alumno y, de ser así, sus calificaciones.

Parent Classroom Observations

Parent Classroom Observations-   Parents can observe in their child's classroom for 30 minutes every day if they would like.  These observations must be set up with the teacher, and a member of the administrative team will escort you down for the observation and remain with you  This is strictly for observation.  If you would like to have a conference, you would need to set up a time for the conference.
